Artist Profile: Toby and Brooke Manolis

toby_and_brooke

Toby and Brooke Manolis sent us this testimony: “Hello! We are Toby and Brooke Manolis. We are Messianic Believers from Macon, GA that love to find new ways of expressing the ancient and beautiful ways of the God of Israel and His Son Yeshua, our Messiah. Our deepest desire is that we first bring glory and honor to our God, but also that we bring our fellow brothers and sisters into worship. We want to have our music available as a free resource so that other worship leaders can use it and also so that anyone who is looking for some intimate worship will have it. God desires intimacy with all of us, and we believe that is the operative word He’s given us: INTIMACY.”

We sure aren’t perfect, but we are doing our best to follow after God and seek His heart. That is what we hope our music will inspire, a hunger and a thirst for the living God. We are both teachers so we know what it’s like to get overwhelmed! But in our toughest moments, God has shown Himself faithful, so we are just returning the favor as much as we can by hoping to bless Him and worship Him.”

Artist Profile: The Pear Republic

Updated Pear photo

The Pear Republic describes themselves as fun, fast and lively! They make music in a wide variety of genres that create an entertaining live show, influenced by older hard rock and British punk, spiced with electronic notes, guitar solos and even some reggae breakdowns, featuring echoes of Relient K, P.O.D., Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, System of a Down, Metallica, and some older classics such as Led Zeppelin and The Who.

“We write and record both original music and creative interpretations of  existing Messianic music while continuing to create affordable video and other media to promote our music.”

David Kasdan grew up in the Messianic movement and is the son of Messianic Rabbi Barney Kasdan. When he was in high school he started the Messianic rock band Netzer. Mark Ericsson later joined the band, having grown up in various protestant circles relating to the music and the Jewish roots of the faith. The band played at numerous Messianic events for the UMJC, MJAA, AMF, Jews for Jesus as well as for Christian, Jewish and secular  events. The band recorded three studio albums and they have many music videos, including Shabbat Shalom (from the Netzer album Steadfast) with over 100,000 views! With changing band members and a change in sound they changed their band name to The Pear Republic, a play on the California “Bear Republic”.

“Our music deals with themes in the full story of the scriptures. Our lyrics allude to creation and the fall of mankind, the covenant with Abraham, the search for meaning, crying out to God, prophecy, justice, the nation of Israel, praise and worship due to the glory of our Lord and scripture from Genesis, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Job, Isaiah, Jeremiah, the Good News, and Revelation.”

Trivia: these guys are huge Star Wars nerds, and they also have an Adult Contemporary/Worship band called The Trees will Know, which will be featured on our next compilation!

Visit CDBaby to purchase their debut album and make sure to follow them on Facebook and YouTube.

Artist Profile: Frederique Vervoitte

F

Frederique sent us this testimony: “My voice & my guitar are to worship my Lord Yeshua. I write my songs in Hebrew, English, and French. I am married to Gautier Vervoitte, we live in France, we are both artists, composers, singers and guitarists, believers in Yeshua HaMashiach, and we are the proud parents of five children. I started out mostly singing spontaneous songs on my jazzy, folk, and Celtic colored chords, I composed some instrumental tunes, and also put some of my poems to music. While serving with my husband in worship ministry, I became gradually more and more involved , and I completely consecrated my voice and music to Yeshua, to praise Him. I really found my calling when I started to sing in Hebrew. I composed in 2012 “Odeha, hommage à Toi, I thank you Lord”, my first song in Hebrew, English and French, which is also the name of the album, written in those three languages, about the consolation and reconciliation of all the People in The same Lord. All my songs are offered for free, for His name’s sake.”

Artist Profile: Kerah Oliveira

kerah_artist_profile

From Kerah: “I’ve been helping my parents lead worship since I was about eight or nine, and have been a contributing member of a band called Zemer Levav with my family for most of my life.

“We performed as a band for the first time when I was 13, and we’ve done an average of at least two concerts a week for the past 10 years. I’ve been singing my own material during those concert sets for 9 years, and have done about 8 or 9 events solo in the past three years. Most of my focus has been on ZL, but I am in the process of making my first album as a solo artist.

“My sound is rooted in Folk with some alternative/Indie influences. Subject-wise, the material is all based on life experiences, my faith in God being one of my biggest and most consistent inspirations for writing, playing, and sharing music.

“I just want to take people on a journey through the good and bad things I’ve experienced in life, and share about the love Yeshua has shown me again and again through every situation. All the music I share is to bring glory to God and magnify His creativity.”

Artist Profile: Jill Quiyu

©RJD_J-6

Jill Quiyu sent us this:

“Hello, my name is Jill Quiyu, formerly known as Jill Moeller before wedding my beloved Roberto. I have been singing to worship and praise my G-d as long as I can remember. Starting in the Lutheran Church children’s choir. You know with those, oh so wonderful choir gowns with the huge red bows. Gotta Love it! Then the Jews for Jesus came to our little church and we had a Passover Seder. Haroset is still my favorite! Skipping to the college years, I had an experience with my G-d and was filled with the Ruach HaKodesh. That is when I really started writing.

“When G-d entrusts us with gifts we are responsible to use those gifts to the best of our ability to bring Him glory. I had been writing music off and on for about 8 years. These songs were my prayers and praise through everything. Adonai provided the resources and connections to put my music down on a CD.  So in 2008 I recorded Grafted In “First Fruits.” This CD was my First Fruits offering to the L-rd. Now in 2013 I have spent the past 5 years on the worship team at Kehilat Ari Yehudah in Yardley, PA. Worshipping in Spirit and Truth, we are creating new music together every time we worship. My G-d is Faithful!”

Artist Profile: Downpour

downpour_artist_profile

Downpour is a high energy praise & worship band originally founded in the fall of 2009 with the desire to reach the youth of the world. High-energy rock, impressive guitar leads and a unique ability to bring a new sound, utilizing moderate to up-tempo beats. Recreating old favorites and writing original music while honoring God, to be a light to the world. Inspired by God and his holy scriptures.

Michael Hunt, guitarist and lead vocalist, and Larry Jones, drummer and backing vocalist are the founding members of Downpour. Downpour started as an idea to spread a positive influence to the youth of this world. Utilizing the message of truth that is found in the holy scriptures, The Bible. Many different configurations of the band has finally led them to be a power trio with bassist Chris Southam.

In July of 2012 Downpour released their debut CD Pierce the Darkness. The album is full of great songs that exalt God and the message of our redemption through Yeshua/Jesus. High energy rock that exudes melodic, electrifying guitar riffs and lighting quick guitar solos, laid over a solid thunderous rhythm section that holds the foundation down with precision. Artist Profile: Rebecca Rudolf

artist_profile_rebecca_rudolf

Rebecca Rudolf loves to sing. One time when she was four years old, Rebecca found her way to a live microphone lying onstage at a party. Rebecca took hold of that microphone and started to sing. She sang for over an hour. She sang songs she knew and she sang songs she made up. It didn’t matter to Rebecca what she sang. She just wanted to sing. So sing (and dance) she did; anytime, anywhere! It’s no surprise that Rebecca Rudolf has finally found herself writing and recording music as a career.

“My dream as a young girl was to entertain people through what I loved most – singing and dancing. When I perform, I love to make people feel good inside. It’s such a rush to look out at the audience and see people smile and really get into what I’m doing. I so enjoy hearing stories from people who have come away from my shows saying they were deeply touched in some wonderful way. My ultimate dream was always to touch the hearts, souls, and lives of as many people as possible… all over the world.”

Preparation for fulfilling her dream came from years of training and performing in ballet and musical theatre companies. Rebecca paid her dues of honing her performance skills, all the while quietly nurturing her love for music. By the time Rebecca became a teenager, she could no longer deny the melodies and lyrics dancing around in her head, and she added songwriter to her list of credits. Driven by the ideal that her music should soothe the soul as well as entertain, and realizing that there aren’t many mainstream pop artists seeking to accomplish this, Rebecca found her niche. Out of her uncanny ability to look deeply into the hearts of others, came the song “Something More.” It reveals Rebecca’s strong belief that we each have a divine plan for our life. Realizing this thought can be the antidote to life’s hurts.

“I wanted to reach out with the option to encourage and to help others escape the black hole we sometimes face in life.”

Next, came songs with titles like “Know That There Is Hope,” “Unconditional Love,” and “My Hero,” all with lyrics that stir up the message of God’s love. And, of course, there is “Drama King,” a song that came out of Rebecca’s own personal story of hurtful encounters, from which she learned to move on unscathed.

Fast forward to the present. Rebecca is now an accomplished singer/songwriter, dancer/choreographer with a growing worldwide enthusiasm for her music. Rebecca’s song “The Fine Line” was a 2009 nominee for Pop Single of the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards. Rebecca had the honor of having her music included by indie labels on compilation CDs that were distributed to all U.S. troops. Press includes a feature story on CBS3 News, a magazine cover on M1 Music magazine (Brazil), and articles in places such as MSNBC Online, Philadelphia area newspapers, Skope Magazine (artist to watch), and Feeling the Vibe.

Described as sweet, soulful, and a little bit sassy, Rebecca is determined to have her personality reflected in her shows, which combines Rebecca’s love of powerful music with the excitement of dance and theatrics. One thing you can always count on, though, is that Rebecca’s music will always inspire, with melodies you can’t get out of your head and lyrics that pierce the heart.
